This Cookie Policy explains how Riptides Labs, Inc. (“Riptides,” “we,” “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on riptides.io, and what choices you have. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
Our consoles at console.riptides.io ask for their own separate cookie consent, because they are separate services with different cookies. A choice you make here does not carry over to them, and a choice you make there does not carry over to this site.
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device. Similar technologies — such as localStorage and sessionStorage — store data in your browser in comparable ways. Where this policy says “cookies,” it means all of these.
When you first visit riptides.io you are asked to choose. No analytics cookies are set before you accept them. If you reject, or simply never choose, only the strictly necessary cookies below are used.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer of any page. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent: rejecting removes the analytics cookies already set.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working.
These are required for the site to function or to provide something you asked for, so they do not require consent.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
riptides_consent | Riptides (this site) | Remembers your cookie choice so we do not ask again, and records when you made it. | 6 months |
hubspotutk, __hstc, __hssc, __hssrc | HubSpot | Set only on pages with a form (for example Request a demo). They let HubSpot match your submission to your earlier form activity so we can respond to your request and avoid creating duplicate records. | Up to 6 months (__hssc and __hssrc: session) |
We treat the HubSpot form cookies as necessary because they are set only when you use a form you chose to use, and they exist to handle the request you submitted. If you do not visit a form page, they are not set.
These are set only if you accept analytics. They help us understand which pages and articles are useful so we can improve them. We do not use them for advertising, and we do not sell or share the data for cross-context behavioural advertising.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_<container-id> | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes visitors and sessions to produce aggregate traffic statistics. | Up to 2 years |
ph_<project-key>_posthog | PostHog | Distinguishes visitors and sessions, and records which pages are viewed. | Up to 1 year |
We do not use session recording on riptides.io. Neither of the tools above is configured to replay your browsing on this site.
For clarity, on riptides.io we do not use advertising or social media tracking pixels — for example Google Ads remarketing, the LinkedIn Insight Tag, or the Meta pixel. Links to our X, LinkedIn, and GitHub profiles are ordinary links and do not track you until you follow them.
Where a cookie is set by a third party, that provider processes the data as described in its own notice:
Some of these providers are located outside the European Economic Area, or may transfer data there. Where we transfer personal data internationally we rely on appropriate safeguards, as described in the Privacy Policy.
This site also loads fonts and static assets from third-party content delivery networks. These do not set cookies, but the provider necessarily receives your IP address in order to serve the file.
If we add a cookie for a new purpose, we will update this policy and ask for your consent again where consent is required. We do this by changing the version recorded in your riptides_consent cookie, which causes the banner to reappear.
Questions about this policy, or about how we use cookies, can be sent to privacy@riptides.io.
